Candidiasis is an infection caused by a type of fungus called yeast. These fungi live on all surfaces of our bodies, they cause infections especially in warm and moist areas. Frequent use of antibiotics and steroids can contribute to yeast overgrowth as well as pregnancy, menstruation, diabetes and the use of birth control pills can trigger yeast infection. They can appear as a flat red rash that may itch or cause pain. People with weakened immune systems tend to attract different forms of candidiasis.
