About 90% of the hair is growing at any one time with the growth phase lasting about six years. Then goes through a resting cycle, forms a little white ball on the end and comes out which is then replaced by a new little hair. Losing 50 to 100 hairs per day is expected due to the normal hair cycle. However, some people may experience excessive (more than 100 hairs per day) hair loss. Hair loss of this type can affect men, women and children originating from many different causes such as hair treatments, medications, hormonal problems, pregnancy, infection, stress or may occur as part of an underlying disease such as lupus or thyroid problem.
Androgenetic Alopecia:
Androgenetic alopecia is a common form of hair loss in both men and women. In men, this condition is also known as male-pattern baldness. Hair is lost in a well-defined pattern, beginning above both temples. Over time, the hairline recedes to form a characteristic "M" shape. Hair also thins at the crown (near the top of the head), often progressing to partial or complete baldness. The pattern of hair loss in women differs from male-pattern baldness. In women it is called female-pattern baldness, the hair becomes thinner all over the head, and the hairline does not recede.

Telogen effluvium (TE) is considered the second most common form of hair loss diagnosed by dermatologists. TE is a reversible condition in which hair falls out after a stressful experience. The stress pushes large numbers of hair follicles into a resting phase. Within a few months, those hairs can fall out. Types of stress can include surgery, childbirth and serious illness.

Cicatricial alopecia :
Cicatricial alopecia, also known as scarring alopecia, is a rare type of hair loss in which inflammation destroys hair follicles and causes scar tissue to form in their place. After scar tissue forms, hair doesn't regrow.
Hair loss may begin so slowly that symptoms aren't noticeable, or hair may start to fall out all at once. Other symptoms include severe itching, swelling, and red or white lesions on the scalp that may resemble a rash. This type of hair loss can occur at any age and affects men and women.
